Hermione Wild and The Sweet Bones

Hermione Wild and The Sweet Bones bring together the raw beauty of traditional folk music with the spark of original songwriting. Fronted by Hermione Wild, whose ornamented vocals carry both delicacy and power, the band create performances that feel both timeless and vividly present. Their repertoire moves fluidly between traditional Welsh and British folk songs and tunes and original compositions inspired by the folk tradition.

Their songwriting draws deeply on nature and community, creating songs that resonate strongly across audiences. Their work is unafraid to touch on profound themes – death, grief, loneliness, and belonging – while the band’s sense of humour and playful approach to lighter tunes bring balance and warmth to their live shows. This dynamic range allows them to move seamlessly from moments of deep reflection to joyous, communal celebration and singing.

In 2025, Hermione’s talent was recognised when she won the Tredegar House Songwriters Competition, marking her as a fresh and distinctive new voice on the folk scene. She is joined by guitarist and songwriter Liam Millinship (of Barlow Cree), whose musicianship adds texture and dynamism to the band’s arrangements, and Sam Baggott, a multi-instrumentalist whose energy and versatility add another exciting dimension to their performance. Together they weave intricate soundscapes that highlight the heart of each song, balancing tradition with originality.

With a forthcoming tour and a body of new work that explores both heritage and contemporary folk, Hermione Wild and The Sweet Bones are carving out a distinct place in today’s folk scene – one where the old and new intertwine, where humour and joy meet grief and longing, and where voice and song take centre stage.
